Feeling unusually exhausted or unsteady is not a reason to demand more discipline from yourself. What matters is how the symptoms start, what accompanies them and whether they put you at risk. Fatigue and dizziness have several possible causes and should not automatically be attributed to one treatment.
Health information for general guidance. This content provides general information. It does not replace medical advice, examination, diagnosis or treatment, or individual nutrition advice. Discuss medication decisions with your treating clinician; do not change treatment based on this page. Seek medical help for acute or severe symptoms.
Explain what you mean by dizziness
Does the room spin, do you feel briefly faint when standing, or is your walking unsteady? These distinctions help the team ask useful questions. Record whether the onset was sudden, how long the episode lasted and whether you were sitting, lying or standing when it occurred.
For fatigue, compare with your normal day: are you tired in the evening, or can you barely manage a task that was previously easy? Sleep, infections and many other factors may contribute. Wegovy product information describes fatigue and dizziness, but that cannot replace an assessment of your particular situation.
Make the immediate situation safer
If you feel dizzy, sit or lie down somewhere safe and rise slowly afterwards. Avoid driving, ladders and activities where losing balance could put you or someone else in danger. Ask another person for support if you need help getting safely settled.
These precautions bridge the immediate problem; they do not treat its cause. Discuss next steps with the practice if symptoms recur. Note whether the unsteadiness is brief on standing or remains at rest. Persistent dizziness following fluid loss should receive urgent medical assessment that same day.
Discuss food, fluids and other medicines
Tell the team if appetite or drinking has dropped substantially. Describe skipped meals, vomiting, diarrhoea and changes in urine output. The assessment also considers blood-pressure medicines, diuretics and other treatments. Do not change these medicines on your own in an attempt to correct the symptoms.
With diabetes, identify whether you use insulin or a sulfonylurea. Combined with certain GLP-1-related treatments, these can increase the risk of low blood sugar. Dizziness alone does not establish hypoglycaemia. If you have a personal monitoring and response plan, follow it and arrange prompt review of recurring episodes.
Do not dismiss acute warning signs as ordinary tiredness
Sudden weakness on one side, a drooping side of the face or new speech difficulty are reasons to call the local emergency service immediately. This still applies if the signs disappear. New persistent chest pain with breathlessness or cold sweating, and unconsciousness, also require immediate help.
Repeated vomiting, inability to retain drinks, much less urine or marked weakness after fluid loss need urgent medical help the same day. Confusion, severe breathing problems or being very difficult to wake are emergencies. Severe persistent abdominal pain and sudden loss of vision require immediate medical assessment.
Agree on a next step that will be reviewed
If symptoms persist or return, arrange a medical assessment rather than simply continuing to record them. Bring a medicine list and a few typical examples. The team uses your history and examination to decide whether measurements or blood tests, for example, would be useful.
Ask what to observe until you hear back, whom to contact if you feel unsteady again, and when the plan will be reviewed. A small note with these answers may be more useful than numerous general suggestions. Medicine selection and dosing remain decisions to make with the clinical team.
Prepare a specific update
- Record the type, onset and duration of fatigue or dizziness.
- Mention food, fluids, accompanying symptoms and other medicines.
- Seek help for acute warning signs without first completing a detailed record.
Common questions
Is exhaustion a normal price to pay for weight loss?
No. Treatment should support your health. Significant weakness or reduced ability to manage daily activities should not be treated as a necessary endurance test. Tell the team especially if you repeatedly struggle to eat, drink or complete ordinary tasks.
Should I simply take iron or supplements for tiredness?
Not without appropriate assessment. Fatigue does not establish a particular deficiency, and supplements can have adverse effects or interactions. Describe your symptoms and nutrition so the team can decide whether testing or a targeted supplement is appropriate.
